Senior captain Chris Armstrong of Bolton completed his four-year cross country career with a 187th place finish out of 384 runners at the NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships Nov. 12 at Stanley Park in Westfield, MA.
Armstrong finished among the team's top three runners for the sixth time in six races this year, taking second place in a pack of three Eastern runners which included Cooper Goslin and Noah Hallisey, the trio crossing the finish line within four spots and mere seconds of each other over the 8,000 meter course. Goslin was time in 27:55.00, Armstrong 27:56.19 and Hallisey 27:59.00.
The race was the 11th straight in which Armstrong appeared over two years. In four seasons, he competed in 23 of a possible 26 races. In his first career race in 2013, Armstrong was ninth among nine Eastern runners to completed the Trinity College Invitational at Wickham Park in Manchester. A two-year captain, Armstrong began his final season this past September as the team's No. 3 runner at Wickham Park and a week later, paced seven team members at the finish of the UMass Dartmouth Invitationl.
