Men's Track & Field: Newcomer Tai Barron Wins Pole Vault at Season-Opener

This non-scoring meet was the season-opener for the Eastern track & field teams.

First-year sophomore transfer Tai Barron (Mansfield) won the pole vault in a field of seven with a mark of 12-11 ¾ in his first collegiate meet. It was the  seventh-best mark in program history.

Junior Matt Pinney (Mansfield) was second in a field of 32 with a PR of 44-0 ½ in the shot put. It was the tenth-best throw in program history.

Junior Chidebe Ndibe (West Hartford) was second in a field of 14 in the high jump, tying his PR of 6-2 (equaling the seventh-best mark in program history) and was third in a field of 14 in the triple jump (43-1 ¾).

Running in large fields, sophomore John Meade (Southington) placed third among 61 in the 60 (7.22) in his first race at that distance and 12th in a field of 52 in the 200 with a PR of 23.86. His time in the 60 was the ninth-fastest in program history.

Running the 3,000 for the first time indoors, senior Cooper Goslin (South Windsor) was seventh among 20 in a time of 9:21.45 – eighth-best all-time.
