In a split of two games in Florida which pushed Eastern’s record to 9-2, senior guard Kendall Marquez of Willimantic averaged 17.5 points, 4.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds. Marquez shot 50 percent (11-of-22) from three-point range and 48.0 overall from the floor overall. In a 63-60 victory over Penn State Behrend, Marquez scored a season-high 23 points, following up his only game without a three-pointer with seven in 12 attempts. In that game, he scored 14 first-round points to stake Eastern to a 14-point halftime lead, and after Penn State came back to tie the game with four minutes left, he nailed his final three-pointer of the game to give Eastern the lead for good. The 35 points in two games move him to within 105 points of 1,000 in his four-year collegiate career.
