Departmental Award-Winners from 2006-17 Season Recognized at Hall of Fame Banquet

Departmental award-winners from 2016-17 were honored during the 24th E-Club Hall of Fame ceremony Oct. 21. From left: Ahriyan Brown from New Britain; Mya Villard from Cromwell; John Boisette from East Hartford, Hugh Lindo from Enfield; Alex Zachary from Enfield, Paige Schneider from East Lyme; and Carlos Gonzalez from Springfield, MA. Brown (track & field) was named Individual Sport Rookie-of-the-Year; Villard (basketball) Female Team Sport Rookie-of-the-Year; Boisette (track & field) Individual Sport Athlete-of-the-Year; Lindo (basketball) and Zachary (baseball) Male Team Sport Athletes-of-the-Year; Schneider (field hockey/lacrosse) Female Team Sport Athlete-of-the-Year; and Gonzalez (basketball) Male Team Sport Rookie-of-the-Year. Lindo and Zachary were named to their respective All-America teams; Villard and Gonzalez were Little East Conference Rookies-of-the-Year, respectively; Schneider first-team all-Little East Conference in lacrosse; Brown earned All-New England honors indoors with the 4x200m relay and All-LEC indoors and outdoors at 200m; and Boisette All-New England at both the Division III and Open outdoor championships in the 100 and 200m. Previously honored at last May's departmental awards banquet were Adrianna Mihalek (Bonnie J. Edmondson Senior Female SportsPerson-of-the-Year) and Manny Caicedo (Francis E. Geissler Senior Male SportsPerson-of-the-Year). The latter two awards are named after E-Club Hall of Famers and recognize sportsmanship, team spirit, teamwork and citizenship.
